Situated on one of the quietest streets in Soho is Lahore Deli--a small Pakistani deli that caters to just about every cabbie in New York City. Their food is good but their chai is the best. Made with lots of milk and spices, in my opinion, this is the best a chai can get. And trust me, I've had lotttts of chai. I spent most of my month in India sipping chai rather than coffee and surprisingly, none of the chai in India even came close to the chai from Lahore. And did I mention a cup of this stuff only costs $1.50?
So, if you're ever in Soho make sure to stop and get a cup of chai at Lahore. If you're like me, you'll probably be a little off-put by the hoards of cab drivers and small, rustic? decor but just ride it through and you won't be disappointed. I remember my first time ever going to Lahore; I was with my friend Fatima after a long, winter's night out. She wanted a sandwich and I obliged. While the sandwich wasn't my favorite, I told myself I'd be back to try their other stuff.
